After School Program at the Wally Elmer Centre We are now accepting registration for our Girls In Action After School Program at the Wally Elmer Neighbourhood Centre. The program takes place from 2:30 to 5:30 Mondays, Tuesday and Thursdays. Participants are girls in grades 3 to 8. For more information, please call Tammy Kay at the Girls Inc. ONGOING PROGRAM REGISTRATION Girls Inc. General Members We always accept registrations for girls who want to keep in touch with what is going on at Girls Inc. through our newsletter and communication network, and to participate in our activities open to all girls in the community. Examples of this include our daycamp programs, after school programs, special workshops and even occasional trips for overnight camp. Membership is free. Girls Inc. FOCUS Program The Girls Inc. FOCUS Program was designed by agency staff, and is funded by Service Canada. Through this program, we will work with 7 young women in Kingston and 7 young women in Belleville while they enhance their employment skills, make critical life-path decisions, and focus on achieving employment success and financial security. To be elibigle for this program you must be between 15 and 30, and not currently employed. This is a life-changing program that includes education in all areas pertaining to personal growth, financial management, problem-solving, employment, and many others. Each participant will gain project and placement experience, participate in job shadowing, and will be supported in an encouraging environment that will allow her to set employment and education goals and ultimately achieve career success and financial independence. The program begins on Monday, Monday, June 21 and will run for 22 consecutive weeks. A living allowance, daycare and transportation support is provided for those individuals selected to participate in the program.
