OUR HISTORY

We were incorporated as Big Sisters of Kingston in 1973 by a small group of women dedicated to improving the life situation of girls in Kingston, Ontario. By 2005, we were serving almost 300 girls each year. In 2005, we expanded our service district, transformed to become a Girls Inc. Affiliate, and now serve more than 1,300 girls, women and gender-expansive individuals every year.

OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Our Board of Directors is comprised of individuals from within our defined service group. This ensures that together, they have lived experience and an understanding of the issues and barriers faced by our program participants. They are excellent ambassadors for our people, our agency, and our need for far greater equity for girls, women, and gender-expansive people in our community.

The Board provides excellence in leadership with a focus on governance, development, strategic direction and financial oversight.
